OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: By the end of the course, students will be able to:  Understand foundational concepts in translation studies  Identify and apply basic translation strategies  Translate short texts with attention to meaning and clarity  Recognize cultural and linguistic differences between English and Turkish  Reflect on their own translation choices and improve through feedback
Contents of the Course Unit: This course introduces students to the basic principles, processes, and challenges of written translation between English and Turkish. Through interactive lectures and hands-on workshops, students will explore key concepts such as equivalence, meaning, context, and cultural adaptation. Emphasis is placed on developing awareness of language structure, improving bilingual proficiency, and practicing translation across simple text types.
