OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Diploma Project is the final project of your educational experience in the architectural design studios, leading to the Graduate Diploma in Architecture. The Diploma Project connects architectural theory and practice through the advanced study of professional and cultural issues that give purpose and meaning to design. The students are expected to go through a design process by adding the knowledge, skills and experience gained in whole undergraduate architectural education. An architectural interpretation by evaluating the different scales and contexts of the urban and architectural levels is expected in your design.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course will address complex architectural organization in terms of function, context, structure, formal expression and other aspects of buildings and spaces for human use. This course investigates the relationship of buildings and spaces to the public realm through the development of an urban design plan and a complex building intervention. Coursework includes advanced design research, urban analysis and study of the social and physical attributes of public space.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

analyze the environmental data in terms of social, cultural and physcial aspects
demonstrate knowledge of contemporary theories and methodologies in architectural and urban design
develop ability to fulfill the complex demands and tasks required by the project briefs regarding: functional complexities
display advanced skills in architectural graphic communication and the use of representation techniques.
The selection of the structural system and materials of the designed building/s
