OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Social psychology is a discipline that aims to understand how our emotions, behavior and thoughts are affected by the social structure and process. The objective of this course, which is the first part of a two-semester course, is to teach the students of the psychology department with a focus on social interaction through an intercultural perspective.
Contents of the Course Unit: Definition of the field, historical development process, main theoretical and methodological issues, social beliefs and judgments, social context of self, attitudes and behaviors, compliance and obedience, persuasion and group effect.

Define the science of social psychology.
Summarize the historical development of Social Psychology.
Summarize the basic research methods and techniques of Social Psychology.
Discuss the concept of self in social psychology.

Explain the relationship between attitude and behavior in social psychology.
Summarize how human nature and cultural diversity affect individuals.
Define the concept of compliance in social psychology. Discuss the classical research on compliance and obedience.
