Objectives and Contents

Objectives: This course aims to introduce the students of the psychology department for 1 semester the importance of psychology, its functioning, history, modern psychological approaches, research methods, and the main theories of personality that shed light on normal / abnormal behaviours and psychotherapy.
Content: Contents of the course include subjects such as the definition of psychology, history, modern psychological approaches, subfields of psychology, psychological research methods, structure of the nervous system, physiology, neonatal and childhood capacities, cognitive development, development of moral and judgement, theories related to personality and personality development, consciousness structural and topographic theory, defence mechanisms of the ego, sleep and dreams, sleep disorders, psychoactive substances, learning theories, psychiatric examination and presentation of various psychiatric disorders.
