AMAÇ VE İÇERİK

Amaç: This course aims to introduce the important political thinkers in the historical development of political opinion in the period between Ancient Greece and French Revolution, and improve aptitude for comparing state theories produced by examining in chronological and thematic terms.
İçerik: Contents of the course include; Discussing Archaic Age, Leaving Medieval Thinking, Enlightenment and Criticisms, Foundations of Liberal Thought and dwelling on the ideas and approaches of the thinkers who lived in these ages for the purpose of gaining a theoretical perspective on basic concepts of political philosophy.

Use concepts forming the basis of political opinion as in state, rulership, administration, justice.
Tell the origin, rise and foundations of political thought.
Compare between opinions of archaic age and enlightenment age philosophers.
Explain tension between faith, mind, science and scepticism that goes on throughout the history of political thought with examples from the ideas of the philosophers of political thought history.
Explain the development of theories on human nature.
Summarize historical development of theories of state.
