OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
Objectives of the Course Unit: |
A PhD thesis is a research study with the code SBE601, SBE602 and SBE603, taken in the last 3 (three) semesters of the program and each of them has 30 ECTS credits. The aim of the doctoral thesis is to provide students with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their abilities in defining and explaining the problems and difficulties in the field by applying the systematic theory and research methods they have acquired in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education, and to enable them to independently pursue specialized tasks at the end of the doctoral program. |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
The thesis work includes the following stages. (1) the examination phase, which can be characterized as defining the topic of interest and familiarization with the topic, data collection and processing, and justification of the thesis topic. This process includes purpose, defining limitations, problem(s) to be solved or improvement(s) expected to be achieved. (2) the planning phase where the student considers what the collected information represents and what this information relates to for the general purposes of the thesis. This stage includes the presentation of the theoretical framework, which is found to be related to the thesis subject as a result of the literature review, the procedures for data collection and linking the theory to the subject of the thesis, and the methods and techniques to be used for the proper development and implementation of the thesis. (3) the implementation phase, in which the thesis development process is carried out by taking into account the evaluation and monitoring of the planning and development processes, (4) the evaluation phase, which includes thinking and drawing conclusions, and (5) the publication phase, in which the thesis is written, corrected, presented and defended. |
