OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to be able to express the language and speech development characteristics of normally developing children and the language and speech characteristics of differently developing children, to distinguish the differences between them, and to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding planning and implementation of activities that enable children's language development.
Contents of the Course Unit: Basic concepts about language development, theories about language acquisition, language development according to age, factors affecting language development, language development supporting methods and approaches, language development supporting studies. Basic concepts of language and speech disorders, types of language disorders, types of speech disorders, possible causes and prevalence of speech disorders, different approaches used in the evaluation of language and speech disorders (medical and psycholinguistic approaches), characteristics of children with language and speech disorders, language and speech disorders. diagnosis and intervention approaches for disorders, counseling for families of children with language and speech disorders, case analysis
