Objectives of the Course Unit: | The objective of this course is to teach the students the historical process of physical education and sport and to gain the knowledge to interpret the social effects of the processes related to physical education and sport discipline based on intercultural differences. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | Content of the course consists of Play, physical education and sports concepts, movements in different societies and cultures, modern sports and social impact of the 19th century, the ancient and modern Olympic Games, Modern Olympics and the historical development of sport in Turkey. |

Describe the concepts of physical education, sport and play and discuss these concepts by establishing links with the culture of movement. |
Tell the movement culture of ancient civilizations and interpret the differences between them. |

Tell the characteristics and development process of ancient and modern Olympic Games. |
Explain the social influences of processes related to physical education and sport discipline and examine this. |
