Objectives of the Course Unit: |
1. Understanding the aircraft conceptual design process 2. Learning aircraft conceptual design methods 3. Reinforcing knowledge with in-class work, homework and projects |
Contents of the Course Unit: |
Reaction propulsion. Structure and Loads. Weights. Stability, control and handling quality. Performance and flight mechanics. Cost Analysis. Flight Safety and Certification (General Airworthiness Certification, Safety, Hydromechanics, Flight Performance, Human Factors) |

Students who successfully pass this course will: 1. Understand the aircraft conceptual design process 2. Be able to prepare an aircraft design report 3. Have basic knowledge of aircraft propulsion system calculations 4. Have basic knowledge of aircraft structural design and analysis 5. Have basic knowledge of aircraft weight and balance calculations 6. Have basic knowledge of aircraft stability and control calculations 7. Have basic knowledge of aircraft performance calculations 8. Have basic knowledge of aircraft cost calculations 9. Have knowledge of flight safety and aircraft certification 10. Be accustomed to teamwork |
