OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim is to provide knowledge about the characteristics and functions of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems, and to enable students to distinguish between functional disorders that may develop as a result of dysfunctions in these neuroanatomical structures.
Contents of the Course Unit: Basic characteristics of the peripheral nervous system, the muscles it innervates and the clinical features of its pathologies; the anatomy, functions, and clinical features of the spinal cord, brainstem, and diencephalon; the clinical features of the anatomy of the autonomic nervous system; the development of the human auditory nervous system; the neural structures of the hearing and balance systems; the neuroanatomy of language and speech; the development of linguistic organization in the human brain; and the relationship between language and the brain.

Explains the terminology of the nervous system.
Explains the anatomical features of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems.
Reviews the functions of structures belonging to the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems.
Explains the interactions of structures that constitute the sensory-perceptual-motor integration process.
Reviews the signs and symptoms that may develop as a result of dysfunctions of neuroanatomical structures.
