OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to gain knowledge about nutrition-related pediatric diseases, energy and nutrient requirements, appropriate nutrition planning for diseases.
Contents of the Course Unit: Medical terminology related to pediatric diseases, nutrition-related pediatric diseases and nutritional requirements, practice of nutritional treatments to diseases.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain nutritional diseases in children.
Define methods of determining nutritional status in children.
Assess the nutritional status with case studies.
Summarize the nutritional principles in premature babies and child diseases.
Interpret nutritional problems in premature babies and child diseases.
Calculate nutritional requirements in premature babies and child diseases.
Arrange dietary treatment in premature babies and child diseases according to nutritional requirements.
ClassifY the features of formulas and products specific to diseases according to their usage areas.
