OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To enable the understanding of an individual’s psychosocial condition in the presence of physical, sensory, or cognitive impairments, disabilities, or disorders; to foster comprehension of the factors influencing the psychosocial process; and to provide knowledge necessary for guiding rehabilitation programs by taking into account potential psychosocial problems encountered in clinical practice.
Contents of the Course Unit: Introduction to psychosocial rehabilitation, psychosocial rehabilitation after accidents, stress and post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and coping strategies, psychosocial rehabilitation for individuals with visual impairments, psychosocial rehabilitation for individuals with hearing impairments, psychosocial rehabilitation for individuals with physical disabilities, psychosocial rehabilitation for children with disabilities and their families, psychosocial rehabilitation in chronic illnesses.

Evaluates psychosocial rehabilitation processes in problems causing disability in children.
Evaluates psychosocial rehabilitation processes in progressive chronic diseases.
Describes psychosocial processes in individuals with physical disabilities.
Describes the psychosocial processes of families with children with disabilities.
