OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim is to provide information on the basic concepts of pharmacology, drug preparation, administration, and drug interactions.
Contents of the Course Unit: Pharmaceutical Forms and Drug Administration Routes, Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics, Central Nervous System Drugs, Cardiovascular System Drugs, Autonomic Nervous System Drugs, Respiratory System Drugs, Digestive System Drugs, Endocrine System Drugs, Toxicology and Drug Side Effects, Drug Addiction and Treatment.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explains the mechanism of action of drugs, their effects on the body and side effects.
Analyzes drugs that act on systems in different groups.
Explains the interactions between drugs.
Explains the types of drugs and how they are administered to patients.
Explains the proper treatment of drug poisoning.
Computes the dose of medication.
