OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: An overview of the science of audiology is aimed at the basic information about measuring and directing hearing.
Contents of the Course Unit: Introduction to hearing and hearing science, voice and sound features.

Describes the origin and historical background of audiology.
Describes the basic information about measurement and evaluation of hearing.
Performs hearing tests.
Describes the test methods to obtain hearing-related findings.
Describes sound and its properties.
Relates the relationships between different systems in terms of speech perception and speech production.
Describes the basis of the auditory system.
Describes the basic relationship between sound acoustics, acoustics and speech production.
Relates knowledge of hearing perception and instrumentation used in speech production.
Describes the anatomy and physiology of the hearing mechanism.
