OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to provide information about recognizing auditory implants and assistive devices and choosing the appropriate hearing aid for the patient.
Contents of the Course Unit: The consequences of hearing loss and electrical stimulation on the peripheral and central hearing systems, bone implantable hearing aids, middle ear implants, cochlear implant and its history, signal processing with cochlear implants, the inner part of the cochlear implant and electrode options, current developments and electroacoustic and candidate selection.

Describes implantation and implantation types.
Describes the appropriate cochlear implant selection criteria for children and adults.
Describes how implant users will follow their progress and results.
Describes the cochlear implant components and the different electrode options.
Describes the preoperative, preoperative and intraoperative tests used for evaluation and how they are applied.
Describes cochlear implant insert and electrode options and current developments.
