OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Objective of the course is to help students to define different types of disabilities and to choose appropriate sports activities according to the characteristics of the disability group.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include; basic concepts related to sports for disabled, disability reasons, their numerical status in the world and in Turkey, the characteristics of people with disabilities, the importance of sport for the education of disabled youth, classification of disabilities, hearing impaired persons, orthopedically disabled individuals, visually impaired persons, mentally disabled individuals, competitions for the participation of people with disabilities, competition organizations, olympics for disabled individuals, paralympic games, physical fitness programs suitable for the disabled individuals, sports activities suitable for different disability groups

Define basic concepts related to sport in disabled people.
Describe the role and importance of sports in the education of disabled individuals.
Define different types of disabilities.
