OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |
|
|---|---|
| Objectives of the Course Unit: | The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the fundamental concepts of audiovisual editing (montage) processes and to apply editing techniques in both technical and narrative dimensions. Within the scope of the course, students develop skills in planning post-production processes, combining visual and audio elements into a meaningful whole, understanding the logic of editing software, applying principles of rhythm and continuity, and editing content across various genres (such as news, documentary, short film, and social media content). |
| Contents of the Course Unit: | In this course, fundamental concepts of editing and montage are addressed, including types of editing (linear / non-linear), continuity editing, rhythm, tempo, transitions, and narrative coherence. The stages of the editing process—such as selecting raw footage, timeline editing, cutting and assembling, applying transition effects, sound editing, and color correction—are covered through practical applications. Additionally, emphasis is placed on the relationship between image and sound, synchronization, the use of music and sound effects, narrative editing, scene construction, visual storytelling language, and editing aesthetics. Within the scope of the course, the basic operational logic of editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve is introduced. Students develop their practical skills through exercises including short scene editing, interview editing, documentary editing, and short-form social media video editing. Copyright issues, ethical responsibilities in content production, and export processes suitable for digital publishing formats are also included in the course content. |
