| Objectives: | The aim is to equip students with the ability to approach the act of translation from a critical, strategic, and theoretical perspective by introducing them to the fundamental concepts of translation studies, its historical development, and prominent translation theories (linguistic, functional, target-oriented, and cultural approaches). |
| Content: | The emergence of translation studies as an independent discipline; fundamental translation concepts; linguistic approaches and the concept of equivalence; Skopos theory and action-oriented approaches; target-oriented theories and descriptive translation studies; polysystem theory; the cultural turn in translation; translator visibility, ideology, and ethics; contemporary sociological and technological approaches. |
