| Objectives: | The purpose of this course is to enable students to apply the theoretical and practical translation skills acquired throughout their undergraduate education to a comprehensive project. The course aims to develop students' competencies in analyzing academic/specialized texts, conducting domain-specific terminology research, identifying and applying appropriate translation strategies, and presenting the applied methods with academic justifications in a "Translation Report" compliant with academic standards (APA, IGU Project Writing Guide). |
| Content: | This course encompasses a holistic graduation project process, extending from source text selection and analysis to the final submission of the translation and report. The content includes discourse structures of academic and specialized texts, terminology searches and database utilization, functional and target-oriented translation strategies, as well as interlinguistic and intercultural translation challenges and solution methods. Furthermore, translation process planning, revision/editing stages, and the preparation of a translation report that documents applied translation decisions with academic justifications constitute the core components of the course. |
