The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the fundamental principles of radio and television broadcasting, as well as the stages and professional roles involved in program production. Within the scope of the course, traditional broadcasting practices and digital content production in new media environments are examined together in order to develop students’ competencies in program design, content planning, scheduling, and managing basic production processes. Accordingly, the course aims to equip students with the ability to analyze and implement both conventional broadcasting logic and contemporary new media broadcasting practices shaped by digital transformation. |

This course covers the historical development of radio and television broadcasting, main broadcasting models, and key concepts in program production. Program components such as format, content structure, audience targeting, and broadcasting policies are examined together with major program genres including news, talk shows, documentary, entertainment, and live broadcasting. The stages of production—pre-production, production, and post-production—are introduced in terms of planning, scripting, workflow, team roles, studio/field practices, and technical fundamentals. In the context of new media, the course also focuses on digital broadcasting platforms such as YouTube, podcasts, livestreaming services, and social media-based content formats. Current issues including interactive content, audience engagement, algorithmic visibility, copyright regulations, and media ethics are discussed through case studies and content analyses. The course is supported by applied tasks and media examples to strengthen students’ production-oriented skills. |
