AMAÇ VE İÇERİK

Amaç: This course aims to provide the students with the knowledge to define and classify the properties of materials and to explain the atomic structure and sequence errors.
İçerik: Contents of the course include the subjects of defining the properties of materials, classification, learning the types of materials, atomic structures and defects, being able to perform tests of iron-containing and iron-free materials, defining, properties and classification of composite materials, definition of Corrosion, types and reasons, next generation materials commonly used in aircrafts.

Knowledge of Ferro (Ferrous) Materials: Students will understand the characteristics, properties, and identification of alloy steels commonly used in aircraft, as well as the heat treatment techniques and applications of these materials.
Material Testing Methods: Students will gain the ability to conduct and interpret mechanical tests such as hardness, tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and impact toughness for ferro (ferrous) materials.
Knowledge of Non-Ferro Materials: Students will learn the characteristics and properties of non-ferro (non-ferrous) materials, as well as their heat treatment and application techniques.
Understanding Composite and Non-Metallic Materials: Students will recognize the properties of composite and non-metallic materials, excluding wood, and will acquire knowledge on detecting and repairing defects in these materials.
Wooden Structures and Repair: Students will understand the construction methods for wooden structures, the adhesives used, and how to identify and repair defects in wooden structures.
Fabric Covering Inspection and Repair: Students will learn the characteristics of fabric coverings used in aircraft, identify fabric defects, and become proficient in the methods of fabric repair.
Corrosion and Prevention: Students will understand the chemical foundations of corrosion, its types, causes, and materials susceptible to corrosion, as well as the processes required before and after corrosion occurs.
Knowledge of Fasteners and Connectors: Students will learn the identification, usage, and international standards of various fasteners, from thread forms to bolts, nuts, screws, and locking devices.
Rivets and Their Applications: Students will understand the characteristics, definitions, and heat treatment of forged and blind rivets, and will gain the necessary skills for proper riveting procedures in aircraft applications.
