A student who successfully completes this course will be able to: Identify and compare the fundamental structural and grammatical differences between Turkish and English. Apply basic translation strategies (such as transposition, modulation, and adaptation) to translate simple sentences and short paragraphs. Analyze source texts to determine tone, register, and intended audience before beginning the translation process. Translate short, non-specialized texts (narrative, descriptive, and informative) from Turkish into English with grammatical accuracy. Utilize print and digital translation tools (monolingual/bilingual dictionaries, thesauri, and basic corpora) effectively. Evaluate and edit their own translations for clarity, flow, and stylistic consistency. Recognize basic cultural nuances and idiomatic expressions, providing appropriate equivalents in the target language.
