| Objectives of the Course Unit: | he aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge of death and the diagnosis of death, postmortem changes, estimation of the postmortem interval, the definition and historical development of autopsy, legal regulations related to autopsy, the autopsy suite and its equipment, materials used in autopsy, and principles of disinfection. In addition, the course aims to enable students to comprehend the fundamental stages of the autopsy process, the steps of external and internal examination, laboratory examination of autopsy findings, and reporting procedures. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to acquire basic knowledge and skills in forensic autopsy practices and to gain the competency to interpret case analyses |
| Contents of the Course Unit: | This course covers the concept of death and the diagnosis of death; signs of death and postmortem changes; estimation of the postmortem interval; the definition and history of autopsy; clinical and forensic autopsy; legal legislation related to autopsy; the autopsy room, its equipment and operation; introduction of instruments and materials used in autopsy; disinfection of materials and containers; fundamental stages of the autopsy procedure; methods of external and internal examination during autopsy; laboratory examination of autopsy findings; preparation of the forensic autopsy report; general review; and case analyses. |
