OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to develop students' managerial decision-making, planning, organization, coordination, control, and strategic management skills in hospitals and other healthcare institutions by examining the managerial structure, operation, and service delivery processes of healthcare institutions from a holistic perspective. Students will gain contemporary healthcare management competencies by understanding the organization of public and private healthcare institutions, types of services, human resources management, patient safety, risk and crisis management, and ethical and legal responsibilities. The program also aims to develop knowledge, skills, and competencies based on analytical thinking, managerial problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and ethical responsibility.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course content covers the organizational structure of healthcare institutions, hospital management, public and private healthcare sector structures, emergency and outpatient services, nursing and medical secretarial services, oral and dental health, and home healthcare management. Medical deontology, patient safety, medication management, risk and disaster management, medical social services, communication, motivation, and general support services are also comprehensively examined. The course encompasses the practical management aspects of all these areas, including types of strategies and strategic evaluation processes in healthcare institutions.

Can define the organizational structure of healthcare institutions, public and private healthcare systems, and hospital management models.
Can list the functioning and task assignments of emergency medical services, outpatient clinic management, nursing, and medical secretarial services.
Can solve managerial problems encountered within the scope of patient safety, medication management, medical risk, and disaster management.
Can explain medical deontology, ethics, and legal responsibilities, as well as the role of medical social services in healthcare institutions.
Can explain communication, motivation, and strategic management practices in healthcare institutions in terms of institutional performance.
