OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the basic concepts of video conferencing systems and their application in telehealth, thereby developing their skills in effective communication in remote healthcare, adhering to ethical principles, respecting patient confidentiality, and conducting professional communication with different patient groups.
Contents of the Course Unit: This course covers the following topics: introduction to video conferencing systems and basic concepts, historical development of video conferencing systems and their place and importance in telehealth, video systems used in daily life and their applications in the healthcare field, problems encountered during video conferencing, ethical principles in patient-healthcare interaction, remote examination processes and patient referral, communication rules in remote patient consultations, video conferencing applications in home healthcare services, remote monitoring of chronic patients, video communication with elderly and disabled individuals, remote health consultation in emergencies, patient satisfaction in telehealth applications, problems encountered in telehealth and solution approaches, advantages and disadvantages of video conferencing systems, privacy in remote healthcare services, and examples of telehealth applications.
