OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim is for students to learn about the epidemiology of infectious diseases and general epidemiological principles in infectious diseases.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course will cover the epidemiology of infectious diseases and general epidemiological principles in infectious diseases, causes of infectious diseases, microorganisms and virulence factors, host defense mechanisms, methods of combating infectious diseases, hospital-acquired infections and prevention of hospital-acquired infections, healthcare personnel and handwashing, respiratory tract infections, digestive system infections, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases and prevention, infectious complications of blood and blood product transfusions, bloodborne infections and healthcare personnel.
