OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: Students will be able to know the diagnosis and evaluation processes of eating, feeding and swallowing disorders in infants, children and adults; To have knowledge about therapy methods and applications, radiological imaging, videofluoroscopic evaluation, fiberendoscopic evaluation and therapy methods in swallowing disorders; The aim is to be able to do practical work with cases.
Contents of the Course Unit: General introduction to the anatomy, functions and disorders of the swallowing mechanism, Swallowing Disorders Following Surgical Treatments, Clinical Evaluation of Swallowing Disorders / Practice, Clinical Evaluation of Swallowing Disorders / Practice, Instrumental Evaluation of Swallowing Disorders / Practice, Instrumental Evaluation of Swallowing Disorders / Practice, Therapy in Swallowing Disorders, Therapy in Swallowing Disorders, Treatment of Nutrition and Swallowing Disorders in Infants and Children, Treatment of Nutrition and Swallowing Disorders in Infants and Children, Surgical Treatment of Swallowing Disorders and Prosthesis Management, Surgical Treatment of Swallowing Disorders and Prosthesis Management, Case Studies, Case Studies, therapy and rehabilitation approaches.

They gain knowledge about swallowing anatomy and physiology.
They know the screening tests that should be applied to the patient with swallowing disorder who comes to the clinic.

They understand the relationship between swallowing, respiration and posture.
They learn therapy approaches for drooling and saliva control.
They learn about swallowing exercises and therapy.
