OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of the course is to teach skill students to interpret figurative artworks according to sacred books.
Contents of the Course Unit: This course includes : Icon, iconography and its importance in Byzantine Art, the scenes of the iconographic program, Painting art in Early Byzantine period, Painting art in Iconoclastic Period, Painting Art in Middle Byzantine period, Painting Art in Last Byzantine period, Byzantine renaissance, Mosaic technique in Byzantine painting, Fresco Art, Iconographic program review around Chora Museum.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain the concepts related to iconography.
Discuss the symbolic meanings of motifs and ornaments.
Distinguishe the scenes about religion according to their periods.
Interpret the pictures about the life of Jesus and Mary.
