OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The objective of this course is to help students understand the place of Turkish folk literature in Turkish literature and to provide a methodological approach to the field and the terminology related to the field, to help them understand the relationship between folk literature and folklore, and to give information about the anonymous and individual products.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the concept of literature, concept of folk, concept of folklore, concept of folk literature and its field, the role of folk literature in the formation of national unity, the differences between forms and genres in Turkish folk literature, the works related with the anonymous and individual works in the field of Turkish folk literature.

Remember the poems, folk songs, laments, lullabies, riddles, rhymes, proverbs and idioms as works of Turkish folk literature.
Summarize the historical development of Folk literature.
Prepare a draft about verbal, written, visual and material sources of folk literature.
Question the problem of form and type in Turkish folk literature.
Formulate the connections between Turkish folk literature works.
Analyze Turkish folk literature works.
