OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of the course is to teach the students: historical conditions that prepared Old Uyghur Turkish, texts from Buddhist, Manichaean and Christian circles written in the Old Uyghur Turkish period, the place of Old Uyghur Turkish in Turkish Language history, phonetic and morphological features of Old Uyghur Turkish, and Prince Kalyanamkara and Papamkara story texts by examining their etymological and morphological features.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course includes the historical conditions of Old Uyghur Turkish, the Buddhist, Manichaean and Christian texts written during the Old Uyghur Turkish period, the place of Old Uyghur Turkish in the Turkish Language History, the phonetic and morphological features of Old Uyghur Turkish and the sample text studies of the story of Prince Kalyanamkara and Papamkara.

Recognize the historical conditions that prepared the Old Uyghur Turkish period.
List the Buddhist, Manichaean and Christian texts written in the Old Uyghur Turkish period.
Express the place of the Old Uyghur Turkish period in the history of Turkish language in their own words.
Examine the phonetic and morphological features of Old Uyghur Turkish on texts.
Compare the phonetic and morphological characteristics of Göktürk with contemporary Turkish.
