OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | This is the course that begins with the Ottoman Turkish I course and progresses gradually in order to comprehend Ottoman Turkish in all its aspects and to have a command of the texts written in the 19th century and afterwards to be able to translate them in the language. In this course, Persian words and phrases in Ottoman Turkish will be examined structurally. In addition, one of the aims of the course is to carry out activities in which the students will synthesize the information they have learned in the previous periods about Ottoman Turkish and show them practically. In this course, it is also aimed to learn calligraphy styles and to read simple writing texts. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | In this course, structural features of Persian words and phrases in Ottoman Turkish are explained. Language analysis of different types of texts written in the 19th century is made and these texts are transferred to contemporary Turkish. Calligraphy styles are explained within the framework of their historical development. Simple writing texts are read. |
