OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS |

Objectives of the Course Unit: | The aim of the course is to examine the phenomenon of consumption in the perspective of advertising; to transfer the historical knowledge of the consumption society that developed after the Industrial Revolution and to analyse the theories of consumption with a critical perspective. |
Contents of the Course Unit: | The concepts of culture and society, the concept of popular and popular culture, mass and mass culture, the concepts of culture industry, the concept of consumer society, Frankfurt school and thinkers, Birmingham school and thinkers, positive approaches to mass culture, communication and political economy, mass media / media and consumption, alienation and public opinion constitute the content of this course. |
