OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim is to teach students how financial decisions are made in businesses, how financial management tools are used, and how the financial structure of a business is planned. In addition, the aim is to provide basic knowledge on financial analysis and valuation.
Contents of the Course Unit: Definition and scope of finance, Basic objectives of financial management, Financial statements and analysis techniques, Financial ratios and their interpretation, Financial planning and budgeting, Concept of time value, Relationship between risk and return, Cost of capital.

The basic concepts, objectives, and scope of financial management are explained. (Bloom 2)
The structure of financial statements and basic financial analysis techniques are described. (Bloom 2)
Financial ratios are used to interpret a firm’s financial position. (Bloom 3)
The concepts of time value of money, risk, and return are analyzed at a basic level. (Bloom 4)
