OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to introduce environmental issues in the world and in our country by examining legal and administrative foundations of the environmental phenomenon with the contributions of international documents aiming to ensure the sustainability of the environment and to give students a critical perspective on the causes and solutions of these problems.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include the concept of sustainability, environmental concept, the relationship between the environment and sustainability, place in national and international legislation, environmental policies and practices in Turkey, sustainability approach in solving the environmental problems.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Define the concept of sustainability over its basic values.
Explain the basic principles of environmental management.
Discuss environmental management policy through tools such as natural resources, population growth, energy and poverty.
Explain the place of environmental management in national legislation.
Relate the concept of sustainability with environmental management.
Analyze the place of the relationship between sustainability and environmental management in national and international legislation.
Explain the environmental protection-oriented legislation, administrative-political structures and environmental protection tasks of ministries in Turkey.
