OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to provide fundamental knowledge and skills in network management and security by teaching the basic concepts of computer networks, network design models, network devices, and cabling methods.
Contents of the Course Unit: The history of the internet, network communication and topologies, types of networks, devices and cabling, LAN network setup using Cisco Packet Tracer, OSI and TCP/IP models, IP addressing, subnetting, network testing commands, wireless networks, and firewall management are covered as fundamental network topics.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Can explain computer networks and their types. Defines computer networks and knows their topologies. Recognizes the hardware used in computer networks. Can plan and simulate a medium-scale network. Can explain the OSI and TCP/IP models. Knows IP standards and the process of subnetting. Knows network testing commands and parameters.
