OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to provide students with a general understanding of the fundamental concepts, operational and managerial processes, industry practices, and strategic dimensions of airline management.
Contents of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental concepts of airline management, the classification and positioning of airline enterprises, economic regulations affecting the industry, and airlines’ cost structures and efficiency indicators. The course also aims to develop theoretical and analytical knowledge on airline network structures, fleet and schedule planning, airline alliances, low-cost carrier models, air cargo services, passenger rights, revenue management, and airline marketing. Accordingly, the course seeks to equip students with the ability to evaluate the operational, managerial, and strategic dimensions of the airline industry from a holistic perspective.

Explain the fundamental concepts of airline management. Analyze the classification and positioning of airline enterprises. Evaluate the economic regulations affecting the airline industry. Evaluate airline alliances and partnership models. Explain the characteristics of low-cost carrier business models. Describe the structure and operations of air cargo services. Explain passenger rights and the legal framework in air transportation. Interpret revenue management practices and pricing strategies. Analyze airline marketing and competitive strategies.
