OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim is to gain knowledge and attitudes about the contemporary role and functions of stoma care nurses in determining the care needs of stoma patients and in their rehabilitation.
Contents of the Course Unit: Stoma, Stoma Care, Role of the Stoma Care Nurse, Individuals with Stomas, Effects of Stomas, Complications of Stomas, Stoma Information, Stoma Applications.

Explain the basic concepts and principles related to stoma.
Plans stoma care.
Explains the care requirements of stoma patient.
Explains the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of systemic diseases.

Explains the importance of continuity of care and education for individuals with stomas.
