OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to gain the knowledge and skills to identify emergencies and to apply the necessary treatment and care to the emergency patient.
Contents of the Course Unit: Introduction to Emergency Nursing, Triage, Airway Establishment and CPR, Toxic Emergencies, Metabolic and Endocrine Emergencies, Neurological Emergencies, Shock and Emergency Management, Emergency Care in Burns and Frozen, Cardiopulmonary Emergencies, Advanced Life Support and Nursing Care, Pelvis and Extremity Traumas, Thorax Traumas, Head and Spine Traumas, Multiple Traumas and Abdominal Traumas.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

List the general rules for setting priorities (triage).
Recognize the emergency situations that basic life support is needed.
Select the criteria that must be followed in order to prevent possible complications.
Explain the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and care of the emergencies related to systems and trauma.
Perform basic life-support procedures on the model by age groups.
Implement the care plan for the solution of emergency patient's problems in accordance with the nursing process.
