The historical development of the Turkish language will be examined in relation to translation issues. The course will also focus on text types, analyzing various Turkish texts to foster an appreciation of reading.
Special emphasis will be placed on the correct and proper use of Turkish in accordance with the needs of translation students. Common Turkish language errors will be addressed, and the influence of English on Turkish will be evaluated. The structural and stylistic characteristics of Turkish and its vocabulary will be discussed to help students develop stronger command of their mother tongue.Presentation:
Presentations are group projects. Students are expected to choose one of the books, exhibitions/museums, or theatre plays suggested in the course syllabus and give a group presentation about the book they have read, the exhibition/museum they have visited, or the play they have watched.
Assignment:
Assignments are individual tasks. Each student will write a critical review, evaluation, or travel essay on the same book, exhibition/museum, or theatre play that their group presented.
A critique is not a summary of the text — it should reflect your evaluation and interpretation of the work.
Please note that all assignments will be checked for plagiarism. |
