OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim is to provide information about the general characteristics of microorganisms that cause disease in humans, and their relationships with humans and with each other.
Contents of the Course Unit: This course covers the following topics: Introduction to Microbiology and History of Microbiology, Factors Affecting the Development of Microorganisms, Microbial Diversity, Bacterial Cell Structure, General Characteristics of Bacteria, Bacterial Metabolism and Reproduction, Molds and Their Characteristics, Yeasts and Their Characteristics, Viruses and Their Characteristics, Protozoa and Their Characteristics, Microbial Flora, Sterilization and Disinfection Methods, Laboratory Working Principles, and Microscope Use.

It identifies and classifies microorganisms.
It describes the structure of bacterial cells.
It explains the normal flora found in humans and its importance.
