OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: To provide a basis for the subjects and principles of atmospheric sciences. To introduce aviation practices related to meteorology.
Contents of the Course Unit: Earth's Atmosphere, Energy: Warming of Earth and Atmosphere, Seasonal and Daily Temperatures, Atmospheric Humidity, Condensation: Dew, Fog, Clouds, Precipitation, Air Pressure and Wind, Cyclones, Fronts and Storms, Weather Forecast, Climate Change, Aviation Meteorology

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Describes the formation of the atmosphere and the processes of its evolution.
Presents the need for meteorology while describing weather and climate.
Explains the role of solar radiation in atmospheric movements.
Describes the formation of the seasons and the seasons of the world.
Summarizes the share of atmospheric humidity in the occurrence of weather events.
Makes the physical representation of condensation. Describes the formation of dew, fog and clouds.
Presents how precipitation occurs. Explains precipitation processes and types.
Explains air pressure and reveals its role in the formation of winds.
Introduces the relationships between cyclones, fronts and storms.
Provides information on the realization of weather forecasts with up-to-date tools of digital weather forecasting.
Describes the causes and consequences of climate change. Demonstrates mitigation strategies.
Presents the practices of meteorology in aviation.
