OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to provide the students with a sociological point of view and to make them understand the relationship between sociology and old age.
Contents of the Course Unit: The emergence of the science of sociology, pioneers, object, relationship with other sciences in addition to the relationship between sociology and gerontology; basic sociological concepts; social transformation in the historical process and the place of old age in this transformation; development-underdevelopment theories and issues of aging in place in Turkey and in the world is located

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Have basic knowledge about the science of sociology and explain social events and phenomena
Objectively evaluates and interrelates social events and phenomena
Interprets the phenomena and problems in old age in the light of the social structure of the society to which the elderly belong.
Evaluates the social phenomena and problems including old age as a whole
social events and facts related to aging in the world and Turkey will analyze the sociological perspective and solutions.
