OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: It is aimed to gain physiological changes during pregnancy and lactation period, creating diet programs suitable for nutritional needs, energy and nutrient requirements, nutritional problems, solution suggestions and dietary treatment knowledge according to the developmental periods and age groups of infants and children.
Contents of the Course Unit: Importance of maternal and child nutrition in the Turkey and in the world, nutrition in the pre-pregnancy period, physiological changes during pregnancy and lactation, nutritional requirements calculation and nutrition planning, 0-1 year old baby nutrition, breast milk, complementary nutrition and infant formulas, features of play age, preschool, school age and adolescent period, energy and nutrient requirements, nutritional problems, solution suggestions and diet therapy.

Define children's nutritional problems according to their age range.
Interprets the relationship between pregnancy and nutrition according to their stages.
Calculate nutrient requirements during pregnancy-lactation period.
Calculate nutrient requirements in children of different age groups
Summarize nutritional recommendations for the pregnancy-lactation period.
Arrange nutrition programs suitable for the needs of the pregnancy-lactation period.
Explain the principles of nutrition in children of different age groups.
Summarize the solutions to nutritional problems in children of different age groups.
Arrange a nutritional treatment in children of different age groups according to their needs.
