OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: This course aims to follow the development of concepts related to conservation and restoration in the historical process, to learn national and international legislation and to understand modern conservation and restoration applications.
Contents of the Course Unit: Contents of the course include examining the development of the concepts of relics, monuments and cultural existence in the historical process, and examining the historical development of national and international legislation regarding conservation and restoration.

Describe the development of concepts on conservation and restoration in the World and in Turkey.
Explain the development of national and international legislation.
Interpret the modern approaches related with these concepts.
Explain and compare the methods of old conservation and restoration with modern conservation and restoration methods.
List certain international texts on conservation and restoration.
Define international institutions for conservation and restoration and their duties.
Summarize developments on relics in Ottoman period.
Summarize the regulations on conservation and restoration made in the Republic period.
