| Students will learn the first and second laws of thermodynamics as well as the concepts of energy and entropy. |
| Students will be able to create and analyze mathematical models for open and closed systems using the basic laws of conservation of mass and energy. |
| Students will recognize the importance of quality of energy and its conditions for equilibrium based on the second law. They will gain preliminary design knowledge in the field of heat and cooling machines. |
