OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of Special Education I is to enable students to understand the basic concepts and principles of special education, the causes of disabilities, and the developmental characteristics of children with disabilities.
Contents of the Course Unit: The course content includes concepts related to special education, types of disabilities, and the developmental characteristics of children with these types of disabilities.

It explains the definition, aims, and basic principles of special education.
It identifies the biological, environmental, and social factors that cause special needs.
It distinguishes the developmental characteristics of children with visual, hearing, physical, and intellectual disabilities.
It explains the basic characteristics and needs of children with communication, language, and speech disorders.
It analyzes the educational processes of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and learning disabilities.
It identifies the developmental characteristics and educational needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
It compares educational approaches for children with long-term (chronic) illnesses, gifted children, and children with special talents.
It evaluates the basic approaches to the developmental and educational needs of children with multiple disabilities.
It develops an attitude consistent with ethical principles, individual differences, and an inclusive education approach when working with children with special needs.
