OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the poetry groups, independent poets, and late writers in the Turkish literature of the Republican era. In this way, to prepare students for text analysis studies.
Contents of the Course Unit: The content of the course includes literary societies such as the Garip poetry movement, the 2nd New poetry movement and some independent poets, Yaşar Kemal as our socialist realist writer in Turkish novel, Oğuz Atay as our author who started the postmodernist process in Turkish literature, and Bilge Karasu, one of our writers who wrote with brand new writing techniques. Selected texts of the artists whose names are mentioned are also included in the content of this course.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT (On successful completion of this course unit, students/learners will or will be able to)

Explain the social, cultural, political and economic developments that constitute the Republican Period Turkish Literature
Give examples of the prominent representatives of the Republican Era Turkish Literature and their works
Relate the development processes of different literary genres seen in Republican Period Turkish Literature based on texts.
Evaluate which movement or school of Turkish literature belongs to the period of modernization of the works of prose or poetry
Make a judgment about the methods that should be adopted in analyzing literary texts.
