OBJECTIVES AND CONTENTS

Objectives of the Course Unit: The aim of the Development and Learning I course is to enable students to recognize the basic concepts and principles related to development and learning, the developmental areas, and the characteristics of these developmental areas.
Contents of the Course Unit: The Development and Learning I course covers fundamental concepts related to development and learning, educational principles of development and learning, cognitive development, cognitive development theorists, perceptual development, imitation, attention, and memory.

It explains fundamental concepts related to development and learning.
It explains the basic principles of development and illustrates them with examples.
It explains developmental theories and research methods.

It distinguishes and compares the stages of cognitive development (sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete, and abstract operations) according to Piaget.
It explains the basic features of Bruner's theory of cognitive development.
It explains Vygotsky's theory of cognitive and language development and relates it to other theories.
It explains the role of perceptual development in the learning process.
It evaluates imitation, attention, memory, and creativity processes from a developmental perspective.
It explains Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences and evaluates it in the context of individual differences.
